The building, constructed in 1830 by Ferrari’s father, served as a workshop and residence for the Ferrari Family until 1920. The display system was conceived as a large-scale vertical book that allows the visitor to read the different chapters of Ferrari’s life through various media; a three-dimensional immersive biography. The system takes the form of a sinuous wall separated into pages, so that as visitors progress down the room, they are obliged to gradually discover each page and chapter in sequence. At every point the next chapter is concealed so as to maintain interest and create a sense of excitement. The compositional elements in a kaleidoscope move to create different mirrored patterns viewed from a static point. Four twisted elements act both as benches and as storage space.<br />The 170 components of the Glocal Design Station where assembled and presented for the first time in Habitat Expo in Mexico City from 26th to the 28th of May 2011 and will be present in several other trade fairs for the rest of the year. People are activated and experience for themselves how important it is to maintain a balance - between modernisation and preservation, innovation and tradition, community and the individual, work and leisure and between globalisation and national identity. The interactive show in the Energy Source, an awesome dome like theatre, is the highlight of the tour. The aesthetic concept of the pavilion is brought inside and the folk cut-outs lead the visitors through the entrance into the main hall and then, while transforming into other patterns, are continuously guiding them through all the exhibition. The usage of the cut-out patterns has not only an aesthetic value, but also an educational function associated with the main theme of the EXPO: „better cities-better life”. The cut-outs changing from the folk forms into organic ones and finally into a city-map and industrial patterns are a metaphor of migration of people from countryside into cities. The story that the patterns are suppose to tell is the base for the presented images and films showing Poland through its history, culture, economy and every-day life. In 2009, Los Angeles was its Guest of Honor and after a long selection process, JFAK was chosen to design the 20,000 square foot Guest of Honor Pavilion that would project Los Angeles’ identity for the nine days of the fair.<br /><br />Innovation: The pavilion’s design created a public plaza where people could gather, interact, and trade ideas and visions. The larger theme that guided the design’s content was that of innovation – a theme common to L.A.’s artistic, cultural, commercial, and developmental history.<br /><br />Atmosphere: Rather than stuffing the pavilion with books and facts about Los Angeles, the design created an ephemeral, atmospheric environment that itself communicated the spirit of this elusive, ever-changing City. The architecture of the exhibition dissect the dandy into pieces, in order to expose the details that makes the Dandy.<br /><br />Architecture for the exhibition "Dandy" at Nordiska Museet, Stockholm.<br />The architecture consists of dismembered mannequins, fused with MDF boxes which then has been laqcuered in a slate grey, giving the illusion that a stonecutter has started working on sculptures, but only finished the parts essential for the exhibition pieces. <br /><br />The exhibition gives examples of how a contemporary Dandy could look. Culture can be a form of enlightenment, entertainment, politics, and even a weapon. The diverse forms of cultural donations reveal a multitude of conceptions about its value and purposes.<br />Donor Hall at the New Museum provides a picture of global giving, and raises the question of who are the constituencies of cultural philanthropy and what are the specific relations that are constructed between cultural givers and the audiences that they benefit. Using publicly available information about contributions to arts and culture around the world, drawn from sources such as tax filings, corporate annual reports, newspapers and research papers, Donor Hall indicates the contours of global generosity.<br />The installation arranges organizations and individual donors into categories ranging from national governments to private foundations, media conglomerates to populist movements. The categories do not suggest that a common ideological position is advanced or that the givers share a motive for cultural investment, but rather they allow the viewer to read and interpret the various modes of giving that the donors practice. The categories provide a cross-section of global philanthropy and the many forms that it takes, grouping the givers as broadly as possible by the areas of cultural, political, and/or economic activity in which they operate. Despite their different missions, what unites these groups is an evident belief in the value and power of culture and a desire to use their resources for its support.<br />The categories of donors are arranged as pie charts and overlaid onto large-scale photographs of actual pies and other foods, a whimsical gesture or parody of the ruthlessness of statistical representations. The entire surface consists of a ‘micro-text’ of quotes from world literature, providing a wide range of commentary on gifts and generosity.
